I get giddy over a new gadget, titillated over toiletries, orgasmic over a new outfit, stimulated over shoes, fired up over food… I just love discovering new things! I’m a Trysumer. I’m a consumer who loves to try new things. Now that I’ve moved back to Atlanta, there are a plethora of local establishments just waiting for me to check them out. So this past weekend on my way to listen to some dope spoken word artists in the Southern Fried Poetry Slam, a chic little urban spa on Nelson Street caught my attention.
Breaking stride, I detoured in the spa, greeted the owner and told her I would be back as I jetted out the door with a flyer. As soon as I got home, I looked up her website and decided to get a facial the very next day. Walking back in, I was instantly recognized and warmly greeted by the receptionist and owner. I requested my service (walk-ins are welcome) and my facialist Shawna ushered me to humble little room in the back.
She told me to relax and explained that all the vegetables being used on my face were natural and from the Iwi (“It is what it is.”) Fresh skin care line. Yep, you read right. She put veggies on my face! I thought I was going to smell like a farmer’s market (Uh…That’s not sexy), but to my surprise the products smelled exotic and absolutely delicious.
With every treatment, I found myself breathing deep to take in the wonderful new aroma. For an entire hour Shawna cleansed, scrubbed, treated, toned, moisturized and massaged my acne-prone skin into submission. The results were phenomenal- Smooth and glowing skin that smelled divine.
How you can sleep when someone is massaging everything on your face including your eyelids? I have no clue, but by the time she started massaging my neck and arms I was slipping in and out of consciousness.
All in all, the Pampered Nail and Body Spa is a great place to unwind. I love everything about it. This spot is fresh, trendy and clean- Expect to get a pedicure minus the harsh fumes of traditional nail salons. At Pampered, the focus is on staying beautiful, naturally. I’ll definitely come back to get their Signature Facial once a month as recommended. The all-natural Iwi Fresh line created by owner Yolanda Owens is actually the reason the Pampered doors opened back in October of 2010. The spa gives her an avenue to further market her wonderful products in a non-toxic and relaxing environment.
And Fellas, they haven’t forgotten about you. Hit them up for a men’s facial, deep tissue massage or a basic manicure/pedicure. Trust me when I say- No woman wants to play footsie with a man who’s feet looks like he ‘Fred Flintstones’ it to work every day. There’s no excuse for a Brotha who’s working to be shredding up the bed sheets!
This month, Pampered has an AMAZING deal in honor of Father’s Day. So ladies bring your man in for ‘Mojito Men’s Spa Days’ and receive any TWO of the following treatments for $40!!
So go ahead and get a facial while you treat him to a pedicure and Mojitos. Your 400 thread count will thank you.
