July Favorites

August is here ALREADY Royals?!!

Oh well…Time flies when you’re having fun! July has been chalk-full of favorites for me! I’ve found everything from my favorite tinted moisturizer to my favorite toothbrush!

1. Jouer Moisture Tint in Deep Bronze

This has to be my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE beauty item of ALL TIME! With my skin in full remission from adult acne, this moisture tint does everything I need it to and MORE. It gives me weightless coverage for these sweltering summer days and a gorgeous summer glow. I just haven’t been able to find anything like it! In my opinion, the Laura Mercier and Bobbi Brown tinted moisturizers can’t compare. Putting this on is literally like applying moisturizer to your face. I love how it just disappears into the skin. It comes in a decent range of colors and has SPF 20 to keep you protected.

2. Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Serum

At 27, I don’t know if I need to be worrying about wrinkles just yet- Especially since I get mistaken for a teenager all the time. Still, I figure a little preventative care couldn’t hurt! I got a full-size sample of this in my latest TestTube and reluctantly gave it a try. When you’ve finally cleared up your skin, you don’t go rocking the boat. My skin technically isn’t all that sensitive, but I treat it like it is. I decided to try it, because it claims to give you smoother skin in 1 week and it has advanced Retinol SA technology. I have to say the texture of my skin is a lot smoother! As far as wrinkles…ehh…I can’t really testify to that seeing as how I don’t really have any in the first place. All in all, I think this product is worth a try!

Buy here: Drugstore, $15.99

3. TRESemmé Split REMEDY Hair Care Line

I totally ran across this line by chance. Lucky me! On a recent trip to Myrtle Beach, SC., the hotel we stayed at gave me deluxe samples of this stuff and I fell IN LOVE. I don’t know the last time I used a complete set or line of products from start to finish. I normally mix and match this shampoo with that conditioner and this other leave-in. How refreshing to keep it simple! Not only is this line affordable, but all the products work PERFECTLY together. My hair is more manageable and my ends really do look a lot better. Now technically there’s no cure all for split ends except to cut them off, but I figure this product will help keep my ends healthier! The other thing I can’t get over is THE SMELL. The first few times I used it I couldn’t figure out what it reminded me of…but then it hit me- Flora by Gucci!!

Buy here: Walmart, $3.98 – $4.77

4. OPI Tickle My France-y

I’ve heard rave reviews about this nude color from OPI and didn’t buy into the hype. Shame on me! This is the best nude I’ve tried so far. I think I love it so much because sometimes nudes tend to be too brown or gray/purple. This color strikes the perfect balance with subtle pink undertones. Definitely a must-have!!

Buy here: Amazon, $5.12

5. L’Oréal Sublime Sun Advanced Sunscreen Crystal Clear Mist SPF 50+

This stuff is fantastic! I picked it up for my trip to the beach and it was everything I could hope for. Easy to apply, high SPF coverage and CRYSTAL CLEAR. As a brown girl, I can’t stand most sunscreens! They give me a deadly grey-ish tone to my skin. Who wants to look like they mixed fireplace ashes into their lotion?!?! Not sexy. This however performed beautifully. It definitely gets the Royal Seal of Approval.

Buy here: Target, $9.99

6.  Nimbus Microfine Toothbrush

I learned about this toothbrush over a year ago, loved it and then lost the packaging to re-order. When my dentist first gave this to me, I never though it would blow the competition out of the water. I had never even heard of Nimbus! Besides being incredibly soft, this toothbrush has long microfine fibers that clean between and behind your gums. At first, it might make your gums a little tender but it’s well worth the slight discomfort. Plague will be a thing of the past and your teeth will have never been cleaner! The brush heads come in two different sizes. I prefer the compact because it gets behind my wisdom teeth easier.

Buy here: Nimbus, $10.47 (for a pack of 5)

7. Ruby Tuesday’s Endless Salad Bar

Shame on everyone who knew about this and didn’t tell me! Now I’m not big on buffets. In fact, I normally hate them with the exception of like two. Anyway, after craving salad the entire month of June/July, I decided to try Ruby Tuesday’s salad bar and let me tell you!! OBSESSED! Even my boyfriend (who doesn’t eat all that healthy) gets mad if I go without him. Guess I’ll have to keep my little rendezvous to myself, lol.

Find one here: Ruby Tuesday’s, $8 (or $3 with entree)

I know I’m late as all get out, but NETFLIX is BOMB.COM!! I hardly ever watch television, so watching my favorite shows online at my leisure is a MUST. I haven’t had movies sent to me yet (nor do I plan to), but I guess it’s nice to have the option. How did I ever get along without it?? If you’ve been living under a rock like I have, come on out and get with the times. And did I mention your first month is free?

Buy here: Netflix, $7.99 a month after 1-month FREE trail

9. ‘Channel Orange’ Frank Ocean

Despite all the buzz/drama/controversy surrounding his album release, Frank Ocean’s ‘Channel Orange’ is doing great because well…it’s FANTASTIC. I love the mellow vibe and jazzy undertones. I think R&B has really been lacking and Frank’s album is definitely a breath of fresh air. If he keeps putting out music like this, he’s going to have a long career! My must listen tracks are: Thinkin Bout you, Sweet Life and Sierra Leone.

Buy here: Amazon, $4.99 (mp3 album download)

10. Unisa Lajila Sandal

After I thoroughly killed my brown sandals from last summer, I headed back to DSW to see if I could find a second pair. These Unisa sandals surely fit the bill! They’re comfortable and stylish. And the gold accent on the front allows me to take them from day to evening. I’ve gotten so many compliments on these sandals! A great addition to any wardrobe.

Buy here: DSW, $44.95
